Betty Stansbury

Betty Stansbury, age 96, a resident of Pennville, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Dunkirk. She was a 1939 graduate of Pennville High School and a member of the Gilead Church. She graduated from Warners Beauty School in Fort Wayne and was a beautician for many years. She also worked as a secretary for the City of Portland, Town of Pennville and City of Hartford City.

Betty Stansbury was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of Manderville and Hazel (Lockwood) Prouty.

Survivors include:

One son — Jerry Stansbury (wife: Karen), Beatyville, Kentucky 

Two daughters — Diana Nichols (husband: James), Muncie, Indiana, and Linda Wentz, Hamilton, Ohio 

Two brothers — Keith Prouty (wife: Peggy), Alsea, Oregon, and Harold Prouty (wife: Ruth), Pennville, Indiana

Seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday in the Pennville Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at noon in the Pennville Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the IOOF Twin Hills Cemetery in Pennville.
