MUNCIE — Noah Arbuckle kept up his dominance on the mound.
He also had a career milestone at the plate.
Arbuckle shut down the Delta offense and hit his first career home run in helping the Jay County High School baseball team to a 15-1 victory over the host Delta Eagles in five innings Monday.
Arbuckle was 3-for-3 at the plate, including a two-run home run in the top of the second, and finished with three RBIs. On the mound, he allowed one earned run on three hits in five innings while striking out five and walking two. He improved to 5-0 on the year, tying Wyatt Geesaman for the team lead in wins.
Mitchel Frasher also had a homer for Jay County (15-5). Max Moser and Ryan Schlechty each contributed a triple as Moser drove in two runs. Cole Stigleman, Payton Heniser and Geesaman all had doubles while Heniser collected five RBIs.
The Patriots scored four runs in each of the first, second and fourth innings, and added three more in the fifth.
Indians win tune-up
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery baseball team scored twice in each of the first two innings Monday for a 4-1 win over Triad in a tune-up to the district tournament later this week.
The Division III No. 6 Indians (20-4) fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning before Nick Thwaits tied the game on a double steal with runners at the corners in the bottom of the frame. Ben Homan then singled to score Reese Rogers for the eventual game-winning run.
Fort Recovery tacked on two more in the second inning, scoring on an error and a wild pitch.
Will Homan, Reese Rogers, Ian Homan and Thwaits each had singles for the Indians, who meet Ottawa-Glandorf in the Elida District semifinal at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Tribe falls
CONVOY, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s softball team dropped a game Monday to the Crestview Knights, 11-3.
Crestview scored in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed. Fort Recovery (9-12) tied it up in the top of the third before the home team scored three times in the bottom of the frame for a 4-1 advantage. The Knights led 8-2 after four innings and added three more for good measure down the stretch.
Olivia Homan doubled as the only hit for the Indians, who committed five errors. Bailee Tebbe and Aleigha Jenkins both tallied RBIs.
Fort Recovery opens district play against Midwest Athletic Conference rival Parkway Panthers at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wapakoneta.
Tigers top Jay
ALEXANDRIA — The Jay County tennis team closed its regular season Monday with a 4-1 loss to the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers.
Klarisa Hemmelgarn earned the only victory for the Patriots, a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
Shelby McClain lost her No. 1 singles match 6-4, 7-5, and at No. 3 singles Lyric Garringer made her varsity debut and fell 6-0, 6-0.
The No. 1 doubles team of cousins Audrey and Kayla Dirksen fell 6-0, 6-0, while Besty Muhlenkamp and Emily Reier dropped their No. 2 doubles match 6-2, 6-1.
Jay County will host Union City in the sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. Thursday. Randolph Southern and defending sectional champion Winchester meet in the other sectional semifinal, with the championship slated for 5 p.m. Friday.
SA golfers lose
BLUFFTON — The South Adams boys golf team lost to the Bluffton Tigers on Monday, 193-208, at Timber Ridge Golf Course.
David Muselman led the Starfires in the loss, firing a 46. Eli Hamrick was two strokes behind for second on the squad. Blaine Harruff (55) and Korbin Dunnuck (59) completed the taem score for South Adams.
Late push lifts Stars
MONROEVILLE — A four-run seventh inning gave the South Adams junior varsity baseball team a 4-1 win over host Heritage on Monday.
Austin Gorney scored to tie the game on an Alex Gorney single, and Luke Yoder drove in a pair of runs on a single of his own. Nick Miller hit an RBI single to bring home Yoder to complete the scoring.
Austin Gorney, Christian Summersett and Yoder all had two hits each for the Starfires (12-6).
Offense late
SELMA — Offense was a little too late for the Jay County junior varsity baseball team in a 5-1 loss to the host Wapahani Raiders on Monday.
Wapahani built its lead with two runs in the second and fifth innings before plating one more in the sixth. Jay County scored its only run in the top of the seventh but couldn’t must much more.
Austin Curts had two hits to lead Jay County, which also got singles from Brayden Sprunger, Cameron Henry, Michael Stevens, Christian King and Blake Caldwell.
