Juan Fernandez’s on-base streak continued but the Fort Wayne TinCaps lost to the West Michigan Whitecaps 4-1 on Tuesday at Parkview Field.
Fernandez, who has reached safely in all 21 games has recorded a plate appearance, drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend his streak.
West?Michigan (Detroit Tigers) led 1-0 after the first inning before Fort Wayne (15-22) tied the score in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Whitecaps (20-17)?re-took the lead in the topof the seventh as Garrett?McCain had a two-run single.
Tirso Ornelas and Justin Lopez both had two singles for the TinCaps. Osvaldo Hernandez threw five strong innings for Fort Wayne, allowing two hits and one earned run with four strikeouts and three walks.
Fort Wayne and West Michigan played the third of a four-game set this morning, and wrap up the series at 7:05 p.m.?Thursday. The TinCaps host the South?Bend Cubs (Chicago Cubs) Friday through Sunday.
