Ralph French

Ralph E. French, age 85, a longtime Jay County resident, passed away Tuesday in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Richmond on April 25, 1933, the son of Bert and Bertha (Adams) French. He was married Aug. 18, 1956, to Nancy Greene who survives.

He retired in 1988 from Peoples Bank in Portland. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Dunkirk American Legion, and attended Gethsemane at the Gardens Methodist Church in Muncie.

Surviving are two sons, Gary French of Tainan, Taiwan and Steve French (wife: Angie) of Dunkirk; one daughter, Julie Gilliland (husband: Marvin) of Yorktown; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #211. Memorials can be made to ARF in Muncie. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
