Beatrice (Bea) Clara Hoevel, 89, of South Lyon, Michigan, died May 19, 2018, at St. John Providence Hospital, Novi, Michigan.
Beatrice was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Jay County, to the late Adam and Hilda Minnich. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church and grade school and Bryant High School. Bea received her RN diploma from John Hickey Memorial Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. She retired from Parkview Hospital in 1993.
In 1961, she married Donald E. Hoevel, and they raised their family in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Rosary Sodality, funeral dinner committee and the Allen County Extension Homemakers for 35 years. Bea volunteered at the Botanical Gardens and Parkview Hospital Gift Shop. She enjoyed gardening and especially being with family and friends.
She resided in South Lyon, Michigan, the last nine months so she could be close to Judy. She will be greatly missed.
Bea is survived by her son, Bob (Tracy) Hoevel of Hawaii; daughters Judy (Mark) Kulwik of Michigan and Sr. Mary Lizette Hoevel SND of Ohio; step-son Dennis (Ellen) Hoevel of Indiana; six grandchildren; brothers Eugene Minnich, Paul Minnich and Harold Minnich; and sister Eileen Guntle. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Hoevel and siblings Norbert, Lucilleand Jerome.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2018, at St. Jude Catholic Church 2130 Pemberton Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with calling one hour prior.
Visitation will be held today from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic School Scholarship Fund, Masses at St. Jude or Donor's Choice.
