Joyce A. Boukater, age 77, of Portland passed away Wednesday in Reid Hospital in Richmond.
She was born in Muncie,Indiana May 20, 1940, the daughter of Joseph William and Olive Louise (New) Daughtery. She was married Aug. 21, 1981, to Herbert Boukater and he died Sept. 28, 2013.
She was retired as a toolmaker for EPC in Geneva. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines in Celina, D.A.R and was an accomplished pianist.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Brotherton (wife: Rita) of Portland and Mark Brotherton (wife: Myra) of Dunkirk; four daughters, Julie Furby of Winchester, Teresa Affolder of Winchester, Shelly Lamb (husband: Christian) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Diana Burkhart (husband: Linn) of Monroe; three sisters, Penny McClish of Freemont, Mary Whitacre of Indianapolis and Karen Daugherty of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law David Furby.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. Private services will follow with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial will be in the Green Park Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Freeman Scout Cabin.
