Bert Ping

Bert Ping, age 81, a resident of rural Bryant, passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at his home.  

Bert was born on Sept. 28, 1937, in Ferguson, Kentucky, the son of Willie and Pearl (Durham) Ping. Bert was an avid reader and enjoyed body building. He was awarded Mr. Kentucky in bodybuilding two years in a row. He owned and operated Bert’s Carpet Installation for several years.

Bert married Shirley Loker on Oct. 12, 1967.  

Survivors include:

His wife of 51 years — Shirley Ping, rural Bryant, Indiana 

One son — Stephen Ping, Bryant, Indiana 

One daughter — Rhoda Ping-Shaneyfelt, Portland, Indiana 

One brother — Edward Ping, Cincinnati, Ohio 

Five granddaughters — Amandra, Abigail, Madisen, Abriona and Kayliona

Private graveside services will be held at Green Park Cemetery in Portland.  

Arrangements have been entrusted to Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Homes.
