Three local students have been honored for their efforts last month.
West Jay Middle School named Alex Ardizzone as its eighth grade student of the month for October. Laila Waddell was the seventh grade student of the month, and Rylee Sollars was the sixth grade student of the month.

Adams Memorial Hospital will host a child birth education class from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Monroe Room.

Entries available
Entry forms are now available for Jay County Chamber of Commerce’s Little Miss Winterfest pageant.
The pageant is open to Jay County girls ages 7 through 10. Judging will be based on poise, appearance and a 5-to-10-sentence essay.
Entry forms are available at the chamber office, 118 S. Meridian St., Portland, on its Facebook page or by emailing [email protected]. The entry fee is $25, and the deadline to register is Nov. 26.
The pageant is scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 1 in the auditorium at Jay County High School.
