Edyth Wood

Oct. 27, 1932-Nov. 7, 2018

Edyth E. Wood, 86, of Redkey, Indiana, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, while in the company of family members at Albany Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Edyth was born in Farmland, Indiana, on Oct. 27, 1932, a daughter of the late Thelma (Dotson) and Leroy Bales Sr. She attended Redkey High School and was a dedicated machine operator retiring from CTS in 1992.

Edyth is the widow of James Jack Wood, who she happily married on Aug. 20, 1948, and sadly lost in 2007.

She was a member of Redkey Faith Ministries, O.E.S. Halfway Lodge Redkey, Delta Theta Tau, and Ladies of Faith. Edyth enjoyed baking, cooking and attending her grandchildren's many sport and school activities. She will forever be remembered for her focus driven, unconditional love and support for her family.

Edyth is survived by two daughters, Vonda M. Adkins, (husband: Harry) of Dunkirk, Indiana, and Marsha K. Goodhew, of Fairview, Indiana; two sons, David A. Wood of Dunkirk, Indiana, and Jack D. Wood (wife: Teresa) of Tennessee; one brother, Bill Bales (wife: Lois) of Redkey, Indiana; one sister, Ruth Myers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Rosie Bales of Yorktown, Indiana, and Sue Bales of Titusville, Florida; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Edyth was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Jim; three brothers, Leroy Bales Jr., Richard Bales and Darrell Bales; and one sister, Betty Botts.

Friends are invited to call Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Craig Cotherman officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Redkey, IN.
