WINCHESTER — The seventh graders moved back above .500.
The eighth grade squad had its winning streak snapped.
East Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams split with host Winchester Driver on Monday.
The Chief seventh graders won 50-20, while the eighth graders fell 59-22.
Braylee VanSkyock poured in 18 points to lead the EJMS seventh graders (2-1). Breanna Dirksen and Molly Muhlenkamp contributed eight points each as Sophie Saxman finished with seven points. Cash Hollowell chipped in four points while Maggie Dillon, Hannah Laux and Danielle May had two points each.
Renna Schwieterman led the eighth grade Chiefs (3-1) with 17 points in the loss. Saxman added five points.
EJ eighth wins
East Jay’s eighth grade boys basketball team knocked off Winchester Driver 51-42 on Monday.
The seventh graders fell 33-24.
Dusty Pearson and Bennett Weitzel had 13 and 11 points respectively for the eighth graders (2-1), who also got eight points from Josh Dowlen and seven from Carter Link. Owen Ransom and Dawson Hundley scored six points apiece.
Sam Myers led the EJMS seventh graders (0-3) with 14 points. Zac McAbee added eight points and Abraham Dirksen scored two points.
Stars rally
BERNE — A third-quarter rally lifted the South Adams eighth grade boys basketball team past Bluffton on Monday, 29-25.
The seventh grade Starfires fell, 22-19.
Brock Banter led the SAMS eighth grade team (2-1, 2-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) with eight points. Brady Beall was second with six points, as Matt Steiner, Kyle Minger and Gavin Myers totaled four points each.
Josh Amstutz scored three points.
Owen Wanner led the seventh grade Starfires (1-2, 0-2 ACAC) with 10 points. Conner Fear and Burton LeFever had six and four points respectively, as Hayden Brown contributed two points.
