Aloys Link
Aloys H. Link, age 94, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, died on Nov. 25, 2018, at Mercer Health, Coldwater, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 12, 1924, in North Star, Ohio, to the late Charles and Anna (Wuebker) Link. On June 7, 1949, he married the late Cleopha (Homan) Link, who died Sept. 19, 2016.
Surviving are his children, Dennis (wife: Becky) Link of Batavia, Ohio, Carl (wife: Cindy) Link of Fort Recovery, Rose (husband: Don) Smith of Cleves, Ohio, Bill (wife: Nancy) Link of Fort Recovery, Tom (wife: Sharon) Link of Fort Recovery, Jerry (wife: Deb) Link of Coldwater, Donna (husband: Wayne) Steineman of New Bremen, Ohio, Paul (wife: Sharon) Link of Mayville, Wisconsin, Ed (wife: Sharon) Link of Fort Recovery and Marie (husband: Mark) Osterholt of Fort Recovery; two sisters, Edna Reinhard of Plainfield, Indiana, and Sr. Adelaide Link S.F.P. of Cincinnati; 34 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Link of Fort Recovery and Phyllis Link of Coldwater; and in-laws Sally Homan of St. Henry, Ohio, and Lillian Homan of Coldwater.
Also preceding him in death are his daughter-in-law, Cindy Link; granddaughter Natasha Link; great-granddaughter Keeley Link; siblings Rudolph (Lucille and Mary) Link, Sr. Jean Link S.F.P., Lawrence Link, Marilyn (Eugene) Fullenkamp and Elmer Link; brother-in-law Eugene Reinhard; and in-laws Paul (Irene) Homan, Cletus (Viola) Homan, Arnold Homan, Anna (Florence) Evers and Juletta (Linus) Huelskamp.
Aloys was a farmer and drove a school bus for Fort Recovery Local Schools for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.
He was active in many community affairs. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6515, Fort Recovery, where he served as chaplain for 37 years. He also was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 345, where he served in the honor guard and color guard.
Aloys served on the Mercer County Fair Board for 21 years, was a Gibson Township Trustee and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3324, Fort Recovery. He served on the Mercer County Community Hospital (Mercer Health) Board of Trustees and later served on the board of governors of the hospital for many years. Aloys also served many years on the Farm Service Agency Community Conservation Committee.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio, and its Holy Name Society.
In his past-time, he loved playing cards, tinkering in his shop and having coffee with friends in town.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, with Fr. Ned Brown officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Brockman – Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio, was in charge of arrangements. A Knights of Columbus prayer service was conducted Tuesday at the funeral home. Military graveside honors were conducted by the American Legion.
