Glass Museum solution is easy
This just makes sense.
The Glass Museum in Dunkirk — one of the Jay County community’s jewels — needs a new roof. Its parent, the Dunkirk Public Library, doesn’t have the funds on hand to do the job.
Meanwhile, Jay County Commissioners still have something like $170,000 of economic development discretionary funds from NextEra’s Bluff Point Wind Farm on hand.
A new roof will cost something like $30,000, money the library doesn’t have. The county has the money. And there’s clearly an economic development component to The Glass Museum, which continues to draw visitors every year.
What’s missing from this equation?
Asking.
That’s likely all it’s going to take to get the roof problem solved before snow falls.
County commissioners have already indicated they’re supportive of the idea.
All that’s needed is to bring the problem and the solution together for a conversation.
Wouldn’t it be nice if all challenges faced by local government and local non-profits were so easily solved?
This just makes good sense. — J.R.
