BERNE — The Starfires played their final home game of the regular season Monday.
They dominated the Bulldogs.
South Adams High School’s volleyball team swept the New Haven Bulldogs on Monday, getting a 25-21, 25-16, 25-16 win on senior night.
Gabriella Bailey, a sophomore, led the team with 13 kills. Shaelynn Bowman, one of five seniors on the squad, and freshman Carlie Sealscott both had eight kills. Lydia Loshe contributed four kills.
Senior Hannah Dull finished with 15 digs, Josie Grabau tallied 17 assists and Bowman tallied three blocks.
South Adams’ junior varsity team won, 25-20, 25-12. Poppi Lenwell, Jade Baker and Makayla Hamrick all had four kills.
Laryson Zeigler notched five kills as the Starfire C team lost, 25-14, 25-12.
Stars top Jay
BERNE — A fourth-quarter touchdown lifted the South Adams junior varsity football team to a 14-8 win against Jay County on Tuesday.
South Adams led 6-0 after the first quarter before Jay County went into halftime leading 8-6. The hosts took the lead in the final 10 minutes to get the victory.
Quinn Faulkner of Jay County threw a touchdown pass to Sheldon Eley as they connected twice for 27 yards. Tristin Huftel added a two-point conversion.
South Adams stats were not provided.
Chiefs beat Bears
PARKER CITY — East Jay Middle School’s volleyball teams beat the host Monroe Central Golden Bears on Monday.
The sixth graders got a 25-23, 25-20 victory, while the Chiefs combined their seventh and eighth grade teams for a 25-21, 25-13 win.
Kenzie Huey’s two kills led the sixth graders, which also got nine points and eight aces from Addison Denney. Jaelyn Lykins and Laylona Wenk had four aces each.
Madison Brunswick, an EJMS eighth grader, had four kills and two points. Classmates Gracie Barnett and Lauren Brewster had eight and five service points respectively.
Seventh grader Sophie Saxman tallied four kills and three points. Maggie Dillon finished with four aces on her way to nine points, and Brenna Haines had three points as well.
