Gordon Jay Hutson, age 83, of Pennville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born in Portland on Dec. 5, 1934, the son of Harry and Hazel (Reichard) Hutson. He was married Nov. 23, 1958, to Harriett Peer who survives. He was retired as director of Jay County Public Welfare.
He served four years with the U.S. Air Force and was member and past master of Jay Lodge #87 F&AM and Scottish Rite. He was a 1954 graduate of Joliet High School and a 1974 Ball State University graduate.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick Hutson (wife: Tina) of Rockwood, Tennessee, and Thomas Hutson (wife: Pamela) of Azle, Texas; one daughter, Mellissa Hall (husband: Jeff) of Portland; four grandchildren, Joshua Hutson (wife: Florence) of Anderson, Jamie Navas (husband: Carlos) of Avon, Joseph Hall of Portland and Matthew Hall of Portland; and three great-grandchildren Mason, Mavis and Maylee.
Memorial and Masonic services will be Saturday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Himes presiding. Family will receive guests from 1 to 2 p.m.
