Jay Schools will get more funding for school safety.
Indiana State Board of Education this week approved Jay School Corporation’s request for a $500,000 loan for safety improvements from the Common School Fund.
The request from Jay Schools indicated it will use the money for capital improvements and equipment to restrict access to schools and allow emergency personnel to respond faster in case of school shootings or other threats. Plans call for the purchase and implementation of visitor management software, a communication system and cameras that will be integrated with local law enforcement, secure doors and other security items.
