Rosella Muhlenkamp

Rosella M. “Sally” Muhlenkamp, age 87, of Portland, Indiana, died on Oct. 3, 2018, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, Ohio. 

 She was born May 23, 1931, in Fort Recovery to the late Joseph and Mary (Steinbrunner) Westgerdes. On Feb. 14, 1953, she married Robert “Bob” Muhlenkamp, and  he passed away on Aug. 1, 2012.

Surviving are her 10 children, Deb (Keith) Foltz of Geneva, Bev (Ron) Tschannen of Portland, Steve (Mary Jo) Muhlenkamp of Portland, Dennis (Theresa) Muhlenkamp of Portland, Darlene (Bill) Gelhaus of St. Henry, Ohio, Nancy (Randy) Tumbusch of St. Henry, Karen (Mike) Welsch of Fort Recovery, Carl (Laurie) Muhlenkamp of Portland, Leon (Linda) Muhlenkamp of Portland and Tina (Tony) Grote of Fort Jennings, Ohio; siblings Dorothy Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery, Arnold Westgerdes of Fort Recovery and Naomi Maynard of Oxford, Massachusetts; 41 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Westgerdes of Fort Recovery; and in-laws, Lori Froning of St. Henry, Lucy (Don) Beckstedt of Celina, Ohio, Dale Muhlenkamp of Tustin, California, Roger (Donna) Muhlenkamp of Flagstaff, Arizona, Ron (Carol) Muhlenkamp of Coldwater, Carol (Dale) Laux of Bowling Green, Ohio, Sue Muhlenkamp of Coldwater and Joan Muhlenkamp of Coldwater.

Preceding her in death were infant daughter Jane Muhlenkamp; a daughter-in-law, Carol Muhlenkamp; grandchildren Travis and Trevor; a great-grandson, Gabriel; brothers Norbert (Mildred) Westgerdes, Clarence Westgerdes, Wilbert (Sally) Westgerdes, Andrew Westgerdes and infant twin brother Rolandis Westgerdes; sisters Julie (Norbert) Wellman, Irene (Ray) Kahlig and infant twin sisters Mary Alice and Mary Agnes; a sister-in-law, Vi Westgerdes; brothers-in-law Don Muhlenkamp and Joe Maynard; and in-laws, Jean (Ivo) Bruns, Dorothy (Lavern) Brockman, Dick Muhlenkamp, Mark Muhlenkamp, Charlie Froning and Gayle Muhlenkamp.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bryant, Indiana, and its Altar Rosary Sodality. Sally enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, dancing and traveling with her husband. She loved to be with her family and will be remembered for her famous saying, “You have to take the thick with the thin.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bryant, Indiana, with Fr. Kenneth Alt officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bryant, Indiana.

Calling is 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 9:45 a.m, Monday at Brockman – Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
