Echo Hope Stein, age 101, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at 7:20 p.m.
She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Washington Township, Ohio, to the late Ben and Luetta (Curless) Powell.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Tom) Gibbons, Celina, and Lois (Richard) Peterson, Evanston, Illinois; three step-daughters, Judy (Dale) Sprunger, Van Wert, Ohio, Nina Spencer, Celina, and Mary Jane (Francis) Benson, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Jerry (Betty) Powell, Celina, and Bill (Shirley) Powell, Portland, Indiana; a sister, Joanne Jutte, Celina; a sister-in-law, Jean Powell, Rockford, Ohio; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eighteen step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Gilmore in 1945, her second husband, Albert Rock in 1974, and her third husband, Jerome Stein in 1992; a step-son, John Stein; four brothers, Roger Powell, Jack Powell, Richard Powell and Bobby Powell; two sisters, Mary Jane Wurster and Violet Shirk; a half-brother, Wright Powell; two half-sisters, Delilah Beams and Mabel Ellis; and one step-grandchild.
Hope graduated from Washington Township High School. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Township, and the Mercer County Home Extension Group.
Visitation hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Township, 9380 Wabash Road, Rockford, Ohio, with Pastor Robin Owen and the Rev. Douglas Meyer, officiating; where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, Ohio.
Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Township and/or State of the Heart Hospice of Greenville, Ohio.
