Betty Cook
Betty L. Cook, age 88, of rural Redkey, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare with her husband Lawrence by her side.
She was born in Salt Lick, Kentucky, on Sept. 30, 1930, the daughter of Hobart and Mattie (Sutton) Staton. She was married June 29, 1951, to Lawrence Cook, who survives.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and gardening. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, loved teaching the Bible and enjoyed Bible study.
Surviving are her husband Lawrence; two sons, David Cook of Upland and Rodger Cook (wife: Cindy) of Redkey; one daughter, Jeanne Pilotte (husband: Steve) of Groton, Connecticut; one brother, Melborn Staton of Janesville, Wisconsin; and two sisters, Etta Bower and Violet Keener, both of Fort Wayne.
She enjoyed spending time with her eight grandchildren, Arlena Cook, Melissa Morris, Michelle Cox, Sarah Westgerdes, Jessica Robinson, Joshua Lash, Elizabeth (Izzy) Lash and Lawrence Lash, 16 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Chad and Megan.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
Memorials can be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
