Minnis Adkins
Minnis D. Adkins, 65, of Redkey, Indiana, passed unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, peacefully while in the company of family members at his residence.
Minnis was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on Jan. 30, 1953, a son of the late Goldie (Albright) and Arnold Adkins.
Minnis was a 1972 graduate of Redkey High School, retired from the Portland Forge in 2015 and worked as a maintenance technician for Central Indiana Orthopedics in Muncie, Indiana.
He was the husband of the late Brenda K. (Fullenkamp) Adkins, who he sadly lost in 2014. Minnis enjoyed fishing, walking, board and card games, trips to the lake and, most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren.
Minnis is survived by a son, Derick Adkins of Redkey, Indiana; a daughter, Cheree McCallister (husband: Harry) of Redkey, Indiana; three brothers, Arnold Adkins, Gary Adkins and Hack Adkins (wife: Diana); a sister, Nina Sisk (husband: Larry); a brother-in-law, James Roll; nine grandchildren, Dusty Rodgers, Toby McCallister, Dakota Grove, Dara Grove, Demi Grove, Landon Adkins, Logan Adkins, Keegan Adkins and Macie Adkins; his special someone, Brenda Bailey; and several nieces and nephews.
Minnis was preceded in death by his parents; aunt and uncle Elsie and Buddy Albright; his lovely wife Brenda; and a sister, Pat Roll.
Friends are invited to call Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, from 4 to 6 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Randy Davis officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel.
