James Landfair
James Landfair, age 97, of Portland, passed away Tuesday morning at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born in Chattanooga, Ohio, on Oct. 22, 1920, the son of Stanley and Mable (Duff) Landfair. He was married May 20, 1972, to Margaret Gigandet who survives.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from United Telephone Company and was a carpenter and auto body repairman.
He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Surviving are his wife Margaret; three sons, Kent Landfair (wife: Diane) of Portland, Phil Landfair (wife: Beth) of Troy, Ohio, and Victor Landfair (wife: Trae) of Indianapolis; two daughters, Cheryl Landfair of Portland and Diane Loomis (husband: Michael) of Union City, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Sunday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Ward presiding. The family will receive guests from 2 to 4 p.m.
Memorials can be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 211 E. Main Street, Portland.
