Janet Stewart

Janet D. Stewart, age 72, of rural Portland passed away Tuesday at IU Health Jay.

She was born in Bryant on Nov. 1, 1945, the daughter of Fred and Lola (Hudson) Longenecker.

She worked for Community and Family Services and retired from Stonebridge.

She is survived by her companion Ron Meinerding of Portland; one son, James W. Kildow V of Greenville, Ohio; a daughter, Kristine Wilkinson of Winchester; three sisters, Betty Meyers (husband: Tom) of Celina, Ohio, Patsy Laux of Portland and Rita Patterson (husband: George) of Portland; and five grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society or Jay County Humane Society.
