George Adkins
George W. Adkins, Jr., 62, passed away of natural causes Tuesday evening, Oct. 23, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Hartford City on Feb. 15, 1956, the fourth of five children, to George W. Adkins, Sr., and Goldie Maxine (Hall) Adkins, attended schools in Hartford City and had attended the Apostolic Tabernacle.
George was employed for several years at Overhead Door Corp. in Hartford City until its closing and had retired in January of this year from Ardagh Corp. after several years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Julie A. (Bedwell); a son, George Adkins III (Jennifer); daughters Amber Helland (Lee) and Sandra “Sandy” Bowlan (Kortney); sisters Kathie Reese (Charles) and Janet Lytle (James); one brother, John E. Adkins (Michelle); six grandchildren, Kaleb McDaniel, Brooklyn Adkins, Tabby Adkins, George Adkins IV, Justin Helland and Kenaan Bowlan, and a seventh grandchild, Kathryn Bowlan, due in December 2018; and a brother-in-law, Larry J. Berry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Geral Berr; and a granddaughter, Emilee Helland.
Services for George will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with his nephew, Pastor Larry W. Berry presiding. Burial will be at Hartford City Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and an hour before the service on Sunday.
