David D. Pearcy, 69, of Portland, Indiana, passed away at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was born on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 1949, in Muncie, Indiana. He married Celia A. (Ray-Stockton) on Sunday, Dec. 21, 1969, in Redkey, Indiana.
David was a 1967 graduate of Muncie Southside High School. He attended Cross Community Church in Berne, Indiana. He served his country in the U.S. Army, serving from 1969 to 1972 in the Vietnam War. He worked as a machine operator at Teledyne-Portland Forge. He was a member of the Blacksmith Union Local 1620, was past commander and finance officer of Robert Guy Ayres American Legion Post # 211. He was a member of the Portland Moose and Elks. David enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, being outdoors and, above all, spending time with his family.
Loving survivors include his wife Celia A. (Ray-Stockton) Pearcy, Portland, Indiana; daughter Annetta Pearcy, Portland, Indiana; sons Brian (Casey) Pearcy, Winchester, Indiana, and Jason (Amber Snyder) Pearcy, Portland, Indiana; grandchildren Kristen Pearcy, Portland, Indiana, Andrew Pearcy, Portland, Indiana, and Coltyn Pearcy, Winchester, Indiana; and great-grandchildren Garrett Brumley, Carson Peters and Corbyn Ward.
He was preceded in death by his father Arnold W Pearcy; mother Mildred E. (Griffith) Pearcy; sister Connie Bell and Virginia Wilt; brother Dennie Pearcy; and grandson Jayse Pearcy.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, from 3 to 7 p.m.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018. Interment will follow in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion. Military Rites will be conducted by the Robert Guy Ayres American Legion Post 211.
Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home.
