Kick recyclables to curb container
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Picnic tables, golf balls, pencils, traffic cones and swing sets are just some of the items that can be made from recycled materials.
When you recycle you are not just conserving our natural resources, you are also preventing pollution, saving energy, reducing landfill waste and creating jobs.
Stop and think, could this cardboard, plastic bottle or aluminum can become a picnic table? Could it create jobs? Is 80 percent of all trash recyclable
If the answer is yes, then instead of throwing it in the trash put it in the red or gray recycling container provided to you by the City of Portland.
The City of Portland has a great recycling program for all city residents.
How does the program operate you wonder?
Well, on Wednesday the city will pick up recycling on the west side of Meridian Street and on Friday the east side of Meridian Street has it regularly scheduled recycling pick up.
Don’t have a recycling container, call the City of Portland at (260) 726-9395 and the city will deliver your recycling container to your curb.
Together let’s kick it to the curb and participate in the citywide curbside recycling program.
