Planning talk scheduled
Fort Recovery Public Library will host a presentation about funeral planning.
Brian Hogenkamp of Hogenkamp Funeral Homes will speak at 10 a.m. Sept. 19 about funeral planning as part of Mercer County’s Forum of Resources on Elder Education program at the library, 113 N. Wayne St.
Hogenkamp will offer advice on pre-arranged funerals and what information is needed for the process. The session is free and open to the public.

The John Jay Center for Learning fall speaker series will continue next week.
Portland’s Jim Waechter, executive director of the Delaware County Historical Society, will present a program about the 100th anniversary of World War I at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

Helping veterans
VA Northern Indiana Health Care System will hold a series of “stand downs” in order to offer assistance to veterans.
The events are intended as opportunities to reach out to veterans, especially those who are homeless. VA Northern Indiana can provide clothing and meals and connect veterans with other resources.
“Stand downs” are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at Delaware County Fairgrounds; 8:40 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Marion YMCA, 123 Sutter Way; 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Anderson Salvation Army, 1615 Meridian St.; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at Fort Wayne’s Franke Park, 3411 Sherman Blvd.

Offering support
The League for the Blind and Disabled will offer a visual impairment support group beginning next month at Swiss Village Retirement Community.
Fred Fulkerson of the League for the Blind and Disabled will lead the sessions. Meetings are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13.
