Outreach program to help with shoes
To the editor:
Due to increased demands and requests for help, we must begin our annual outreach (formerly known as “Compassion Network”).
Forty-nine years ago, we started to assist needy families with food, clothing, etc.
We search for “working families,” go into their homes, identify their needs, then, as the Lord supplies the finances, we personally shop, purchase and help with utilities and whatever their needs are. We never give any cash.
This year, our focus is on purchasing shoes for the family. I worked as a shoe salesman with Glover Shoe Store in Portland and am familiar with making sure each person receives the right shoes.
We will continue to assist families with other needs, however, this year we put the focus on making sure everyone in the family has shoes — correct shoes.
We depend upon the financial donation of the public.
If you can help, contact me at (260) 202-9800 or mail correspondence to Phill Jellison, 122 E. Race St., Portland, IN 47371.
