Senior activities set

Activities for senior citizens are scheduled in Berne throughout the final week of the month.

Swiss Village’s Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion in Berne will host a series of activities for those 55 and older in celebration of Active Aging Week, which is dedicated to promiting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle for older adults.

Offerings will begin at 6 a.m. Sept. 24 with water aerobics, which will be held again at the same time Sept. 26 and 28. There will also be a free senior breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 24.

The scheduled also includes a Hawaiian dance class at 10:45 a.m. Sept. 25, senior yoga at 9 a.m. Sept. 26, a campfire concert by The McIntires, Gabe Bailey & Rocksteady at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 and the closing program at 10 a.m. Sept. 28.

Screenings available

Mercer Health will offer free cancer screenings next month.

Screenings are scheduled for 8 to 11 a.m. Sept. 18 and 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Community Medical Center in Celina, Ohio. The clinic is open to men ages 55 to 75 who do not have an established urology provider or a personal history of prostate cancer.

Seeking stuff

The TV show “American Pickers” will be coming to Indiana in October and is looking for leads in the state.

The show features Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz of Antique Archeology traveling the country and looking for valuable antiques. The show’s producers are looking for “interesting characters with interesting items” to potentially be featured on the show.

Offering support

The League for the Blind and Disabled will offer a visual impairment support group beginning next month at Swiss Village Retirement Community.

Fred Fulkerson of the League for the Blind and Disabled will lead the sessions. Meetings are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13.
