Two finish first in tournament
CARMEL — Jay County sent 14 teams to participate in the Special Olympics corn toss state tournament Saturday.
Two came back with gold medals.
Sondra Jordan and Kevin Pugh, as well as Connor Hoyt and Zach Fullenkamp, teamed to finish first in their respective divisions in the Special Olympics Corn Toss Tournament at Carmel Middle School.
Teams finishing runner-up were Hagen Allred and Jamie Allred; Tyler Lennartz and Annett Copy; and Sam Glessner and Ashley Current.
Placing third were Natalie VanSkyock and Cindy Denney; Kurtis Atkinson and Logan Campbell; Kameron Woodbury and Kevin Woodbury; Michelle Hostetler and Kris Woodbury; Ron Smith and Mark Smith; and Martha Loper and Troy Atkinson.
Teams finishing fourth were Kristi Silverman and Shelby Furlin; Shelly Roser and Abby Denney; and Kaitlin Eason and Darrold Eason.
Stars get first win
MONROEVILLE — The South Adams middle school football team picked up a 26-0 win over the host Heritage Patriots on Tuesday.
Brady Beall rushed for one touchdown and threw for another to lead the Starfires (2-1, 2-1 Allen County Athletic Conference). He connected with Isaac Dee for an 18-yard TD in the first quarter and scored from the 2 yard line in the third.
Maverick Summersett had 97 rushing yards and a TD. Gavin Myers returned a fumble 53 yards for a score.
