Local residents will have the opportunity next week to learn about World War I.
Portland’s Jim Waechter, executive director of the Delaware County Historical Society, will present a program about the 100th anniversary of World War I at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at John Jay Center for Learning as part of its fall speaker series.
Waechter is a local history and veteran. He is active as a volunteer for Museum of the Soldier.
Following speakers include:
•Ralph Frazee, director of the Jay County Emergency Management Agency, will discuss that agencies role on Oct. 9.
•Author and journalist Ruth Dudley Edwards will present a program on succession to the British throne on Oct. 22
•William Robertson, a retired senior scientist at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, will facilitate a program on an ancient Greek device that may have been the earliest computer on Nov. 8.
