MUNCIE — Lydia Keihn and Cameron Clark both finished first.
Their efforts helped the Chiefs beat the Panthers.
East Jay Middle School’s boys and girls cross country teams both defeated the host Southside Panthers on Tuesday.
The girls had a perfect score in their 15-49 win, while the boys earned a 19-40 victory.
Keihn crossed the finish line in 12 minutes, 32 seconds. Natalie Carrero was second, Makayla Brainerd placed third, Mallory Winner finished fourth and Emily Manor was fifth.
Cameron Clark’s winning time was 11:23. Thomas LeMaster (third), Tyler Manor (fourth), Grayson Williams (fifth) and Isaac Kunkler (sixth) completed the team score.
Patriots beat Starfires
The Jay County middle school football team moved to 3-2 on the season with a 14-0 win against South Adams on Tuesday.
Carter Link and Josh Dowlen both had rushing touchdowns for Jay County. Dawson Hundley finished with 40 yards, and Link added 35.
Dowlen led the defense with seven tackles and an interception. Trey Nichols had a fumble recovery.
Maverick Summersett had 86 rushing yards for South Adams (2-2). Brady Beall had an interception and Summersett recovered a fumble.
Tribe tops Rangers
NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams both swept the New Knoxville Rangers on Tuesday.
The seventh graders won 25-8, 25-23, and the eighth graders earned a 25-14, 25-16 victory.
Mara Pearson finished with six kills to lead the seventh grade squad. Paige Guggenbiller contributed three kills while Teigan Fortkamp also had two kills. Kensey Gaerke and Pearson had four aces each.
Brooklyn Jutte led the FRMS eighth graders with seven aces.
