A Decatur woman sustained injuries in a vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon.
Misty J. Gerber, 31, was driving her 2011 Ford Explorer east on Indiana 67 and was approaching its intersection with county road 450 East. Jeremy E. Hague, 40, Fort Recovery, was driving south on county road 450 East and failed to stop at the intersection with Indiana 67. The two vehicles collided, going off the south side of the road and into the ditch.
Gerber sustained incapacitating back injuries and was transported to Adams County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Hague was driving a 2006 Econoline van, registered to Rodney L. Showalter, Celina, Ohio.
Damage in the 4:43 p.m. collision is estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
Backing accident
A Florida woman and a Portland man were involved in a vehicle collision Tuesday.
Dianna S. Collins, 72, Seminole, Florida, was backing her 2014 Honda CRV out of a parking spot on Main Street near its intersection with Meridian Street. She didn’t see Donald P. Gillespie, 77, who was driving west on Main Street, and the two cars collided.
Gillespie was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion, registered to Moser Motors Inc., Berne.
Damage in the 3:32 p.m. accident is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Fraud
A Portland woman reported fraudulent activity on her debit card Monday.
Karen Jenkins told Portland Police Department someone had used her debit card at four local stores, charging about $50 total.
Theft
A Pennville woman reported a package stolen from her mailbox.
Janice Stuart, who lives on county road 650 West, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she had ordered two shirts online, totaling $75. Pennville Post Office delivered the package but it was missing from her mailbox.
Stuart said the theft occurred between Sept. 6 and 7.
In area courts
A Geneva man was sentenced recently in Wells Superior Court for violating his probation.
Jamie M. Schwartz, 24, was found in violation of his probation on the original charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, which he was sentenced for on Aug. 7. He was ordered to serve six days in Wells County Jail.
Area residents were also fined recently in Celina Municipal Court.
Ruby Kelley, 57, Fort Recovery, failure to maintain reasonable control, $73.50; Brian Bailey, 40, Portland, slow-moving vehicle violation, $20.
