Harold Borgerding

Sept. 22, 1933-Sept. 19, 2018

Harold V.  "Hans" Borgerding, age 84, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, died on Sept. 19, 2018, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.

He was born Sept. 22, 1933, in New Weston, to the late Henry and Ida (Gels) Borgerding. On Oct. 25, 1961, he married Eugenia (Heuing) Borgerding, who died June 6, 2012.

Surviving are his six children, Fred (Ruth) Borgerding of New Weston, Ohio, Larry (Patty) Borgerding of Union City, Indiana, Russ (Jody) Borgerding of North Port, Florida, Sandy (Rich) Rosenbeck of Fort Recovery, Angie Borgerding of Coldwater, Ohio, and Deb (Mitch) Voskuhl of Coldwater; siblings, Marie Glass of St. Henry, Ohio, and Mike (Marilyn Allen) Borgerding of Dayton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marilyn Borgerding of New Weston; brother-in-law Elmer Wendel of Fort Recovery; and in-law Margie Fleck of St. Sebastian, Ohio.

Preceding him in death were his siblings Eugene (Ramona) Borgerding, Norma (Jerome) Grieshop, Virginia (Ken) Grimberg, Richard Borgerding, Joan Wendel, Patricia (Jack) Sauer and James Borgerding; a brother-in-law, William Glass; and in-laws Mary (Jack) Leopard, Alice (Bob) Leopard, Dorothy (Carl) Tobe, Edna (John) Koester, Melvin (Kathleen) Heuing, Norma (Myron) Huber, Ida (Jerry) Boeckman and Lester Fleck.

He was a graduate of St. Henry High School and retired from New Idea, Coldwater.

Haus was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was also a 60-year member of the American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio. Hans, the master gardener, was never one to refuse a trip to Walmart with his family. His last couple of years was spent at Briarwood Village. He would often be seen going door to door visiting friends, which made his time there precious. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, with Fr. Ned Brown officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

Calling is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Brockman – Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
