Screenings set at Adams hospital

Taking Note

Adams Memorial Hospital is having a mammography screening night to encourage people to be checked for breast cancer.

The event will take place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the hospital, 1100 Mercer Ave., Decatur. Attendees will be offered mini massages, goody bags and refreshments.

The mammograms will be billed to the patients’ insurance. The hospital has also received an Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Grant to provide screenings to those in need of financial assistance.

A doctor’s referral is not necessary but patients must have an appointment, which can be scheduled by calling (260) 724-2145.

Offering support

The League for the Blind and Disabled will offer a visual impairment support group beginning next month at Swiss Village Retirement Community.

Fred Fulkerson of the League for the Blind and Disabled will lead the sessions. Meetings are scheduled for 2 p.m. Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13.

For more information, contact Swiss Village at (260) 589-3173.
