The East Jay Middle School cross country teams had perfect scores of 15 points on Tuesday in winning a three-team meet with West Jay and Winchester Driver at Hudson Family Park.
The EJMS boys left Driver a distant second with 58 points while West Jay totaled 71.
West Jay’s girls were runner-up to East Jay with 52 points. Driver finished with 63 points.
Sebastian Solis of East Jay was the race winner in 12 minutes, 30 seconds. Thomas LeMaster, Cameron Clark, Tyler Manor and Grayson Williams were second through fifth.
Logan Zimmmerman was the top West Jay boy as he was 12th, one spot ahead of Skyler Bee. Aidan Stevens (24th), Lukes Powers (27th) and Jason Ayala (35th) also ran for the Eagles.
East Jay’s Lydia Keihn won the girls race in 13:27. Teammates Natalie Carreno, Mara Bader, Makayla Brainerd and Emily Manor finished second through fifth.
West Jay’s Hailey Ayala was sixth, Emma Outcalt placed eighth, Lucy Raines finished 10th, Sarah McClain ended 12th and Gabi Bilbrey was 16th.
Jay beats Heritage
The Jay County middle school eighth grade football team grabbed a 34-0 victory over the Heritage Patriots on Tuesday in one half of play.
Dawson Hundley finished with 90 rushing yards, a pair of touchdowns and two 2-point conversions. Josh Dowlen, Carter Link and Kadin Ridenour each had a touchdown.
Dowlen and Hundley both recovered fumbles and Link had an interception.
Stars fall to Jets
BERNE — South Adams’ middle school football team lost to Adams Central on Tuesday, 34-6.
Isaac Dee scored the lone touchdown for the Starfires (2-3) on a 23-yard pass from Brady Beall in the second quarter.
Maverick Summersett led the SAMS rushing attack with 56 yards, and Beall had 39 yards on the ground and threw for 41 more.
Esmael Rodriguez led the team with six tackles.
Chiefs sweep
The East Jay seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams both swept the Southern Wells Raiders on Tuesday.
The eighth grade squad (4-9) won 25-13, 25-22, while the seventh graders (8-6) got a 25-11, 25-10 victory.
Madison Brunswick led the eighth graders with seven kills and Renna Schwieterman contributed five kills. Kylee Carreno led the team in both service points (12) and aces (six), while Lauren Brewster finished with eight assists.
Brenna Haines paced the seventh graders with 10 aces on her way to 16 points. Riah Champ had 11 points on eight aces, as Maggie Dillon and Haines finished with three kills apiece.

East Jay’s sixth grade volleyball team fell to the Yorktown Tigers on Tuesday, 25-12, 25-10.
Jaelyn Lykins tallied the only kill for the Chiefs, who got three digs from Morgan DeHoff and one dig each from Jordyn Hutzler and Lykins.
Lykins also tallied six aces and 10 service points as she was a perfect 13-for-13 from the service stripe.
