West Jay Middle School has named its September Students of the Month.

They are sixth grader Mason Johnson, son of Joe and Bethany Johnson; seventh grader Tommy Adkins, son of Tom and Stephanie Adkins; and eighth grader Lilly Rogers, daughter of Lindsey Cochran.



Annual meeting

Arts Place will hold its annual business meeting at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Portland Center, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland.

The meeting will include reports on the last year and election of new directors. 

A reception will be held after the meeting. 

While the meeting is free to attend, the Series Opening Celebration Reception costs $26 per person. Reservations must be made by Oct. 3. The reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will include, substantial hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, a weaving demonstration and a glass art exhibit. Talking Lincoln

The Jay County Public Library Book Club will be discussing the award-winning novel “Lincoln in the Bardo” by George Saunders when it meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 15.



Offering shots

Mercer Health will offer flu shots at several locations next month.

Shots are $45 for regular doses. High-dose vaccines are $45. There is no charge for those enrolled in Medicare Part B.

Shots will be available at Mercer Health Medical Group, 1830 Union City Road, Fort Recovery, from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 24.
