LIMA, Ohio — The Indians jumped on the Thunderbird pitching early.

They added a plethora of runs late for good measure.

After scoring three runs in the first inning Monday, the Fort Recovery High School softball team doubled its score on two separate occasions in a 13-1 thumping of Lima Central Catholic in five innings.

Fort Recovery (3-1) plated three runs in the third inning to open a commanding 6-0 advantage, and after LCC got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, the Indians responded with a seven-run fifth to put the game well out of reach.

Chloey Grisez drove in four runs on a double and two singles, and Lydia Wenning blasted her third home run of the season for one of her three hits. Wenning hit a three-run shot in the first inning after Brenna Homan walked and Grisez was hit by a pitch.

Homan tripled, while Rachel Thien, Jackie Homan and Aleigha Jenkins each chipped in singles.

Grisez was solid on the mound as she surrendered one unearned run on four hits on just 66 pitches. She struck out four and walked two while throwing all five innings.
