The Patriot bands are ready for their final concert of the school year.
Jay County High School’s spring band concert is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium.
There will also be a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the concert.
The concert will feature the Patriot concert and jazz bands. Admission is free.
Osteen selected
Jay County Civic Theatre’s board of directors on Monday selected Lee Osteen to fill its vacant seat.
Osteen, a Jay County High School graduate, will serve the remainder of the term, which is up in June. Longtime board member Sandy Iliff resigned her position last month because of conflicts with her work schedule.
Jay County Civic Theatre board members serve three-year terms, with the next election at its annual meeting, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 10 in room 205 at John Jay Center for Learning. Seats up for election this year are held by Ray Cooney and Osteen.
Other board members are J.B. Goodrich, Pete Vogler, Greg Rittenhouse, Bev Wolford, Jason McGraw and Casi Avery.
Programs scheduled
Charles W. Brown Planetarium at Ball State University will host the program “Strange Alien Worlds” at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Friday and April 12.
The program will feature a live presentation by astronomer and planetarium director Ronald Kaitchuck to explore thousands of planets. For more information, contact [email protected] or call (765) 285-8963.
Conference set
LifeStream Services will hold its annual Aging Well Conference from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 6 at Horizon Convention Center in Muncie.
The conference will feature Loretta Swit as its keynote speaker. She is best known for playing Maj. Margaret Houlihan on “M*A*S*H.”
The event will also include a resource fair and breakout sessions of older adults, veterans, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Celebrating
Blackford County Arts Center will host a six-year anniversary celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with an opening reception for the Kathy Ayers exhibit “Voyages Near and Far.”
Ayers, an art teacher for Jay School Corporation, will have works in oils and acrylics on display from her extensive travels.
The event will also include entertainment by Windsong Flute Ensemble.
