Jay County’s Josh Atkinson is joining the law firm of Coldren, Frantz and Sprunger.
A 2006 graduate of Jay County High School and a 2010 graduate of Manchester University, Atkinson received his law degree from Valparaiso University.
For the past five years, he has worked on civil litigation and as a civil defender with the law firm of Hunt Suedhoff Kalamoros in Fort Wayne.
“For five years I’ve done the big firm and big city life, but this is an opportunity to be more involved in the community,” said Atkinson. “It was the right opportunity at the right time. Everything just worked perfectly.”
The son of Mike and Katrina Wangler, Atkinson was raised on a Jay County farm and was actively involved in both FFA and 4-H.
He was a 10-year member of 4-H and was recognized as a Supreme Achiever at the Jay County Fair.
He played baseball for both JCHS and Manchester and is a former member of the Portland Rockets. Today, he coaches a Summit City Sluggers youth travel team.
Atkinson and his wife Jillian have a daughter, Ava, who turned one-year-old this week.
Jillian Atkinson is a teacher, and the family plans to move to Portland after the current school year.
“The bulk of my practice will probably be out of the Portland office,” said Atkinson, noting that there are also Sprunger law offices in Berne and Bluffton.
