DAYTON, Ohio — Lee Solomon was the only bright spot in the lineup as the Fort Wayne TinCaps dropped the series finale to the Dayton Dragons, 4-3, on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field.
Solomon had a pair of run-scoring hits for the TinCaps (8-6). He hit a go-ahead single in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie, and he came to the plate again in the eighth and ripped a triple to right field to bring home Juan Fernandez. His second RBI trimmed the 4-2 advantage by Dayton (Cincinnati Reds) to one run.
Solomon also drew a 10-pitch walk in the game.
Efraín Contreras struck out six Dragons (5-8), and gave up only four hits and a walk in five innings.
Nick?Gatewood and Fernandez contributed doubles in the loss for the TinCaps, who return home to Parkview Field tonight for a three-game set against the West?Michigan WhiteCaps (Detroit Tigers).
