Frederick Montgomery

Frederick Phillip Montgomery, age 75, of Portland passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Indiana University Health Jay Hospital.

He was born in Portland on March 14, 1944, the son of F.M. “Ted” and Mary E. (Leonhard) Montgomery. He was retired from Hertz Rental Car, had been an underwriter for Lincoln National Life and was manager of Sandy Hollow Apartments.

He was a 1962 Portland High School graduate and earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. He attended Zion Lutheran Church and was a drummer and musician for several years.

Surviving are his son Frederick Griffith Montgomery and daughter Martha Elizabeth Montgomery, both of California; two sisters, Linda Jane Minch (husband: John) of Berne and Nan Rowles (husband: Phil) of Portland; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 26, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the Green Park Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Sharon Taylor presiding. The family will receive guests from noon to 1 p.m.
