Key Palace to host series of concerts
Taking Note
Key Palace Theatre has several concerts planned for this spring.
On May 4, 1988 Rocks will perform “big hair” hits from the ’80s, including songs from Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Guns-N-Roses and Journey. The concert is at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.
Anthony Gomes, a blues rock guitarist and a frequent headliner at Key Palace Theatre, will play at 8 p.m. May 18. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
Country singer and Ohio native Dallas Moore will perform at 8 p.m. June 1 with his band. Tickets are $15.
The venue is located at 123 S. Meridian St., Redkey. Doors open at 6 p.m. for all shows, which are open to people 21 and older.
Key Palace Theatre is also hosting two shows at Cornerstone Center for the Arts at 520 E. Main St., Muncie.
Metallica-tribute band The Four Horsemen will play on April 27. The show will start at 7 p.m. with TaintD as the opening act. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
The Why Store Live will perform at 9 p.m. May 31, with doors opening at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10.
Workshops set
Cornerstone Center for the Arts in Muncie has a series of workshops available in May.
The classes include the monthly dance club, led by Portland’s David Fennig, from 7 to 10:30 p.m. May 4.
Bad Art Night is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 9. Also on the schedule are a pop-up dance workshop will be held at 7 p.m. May 10; jewelry making at 6:30 p.m. May 17, coffee and paints at 10 a.m. May 18 and pop up fitness at 1 p.m. May 18.

Blackford County Center for the Arts will host the exhibit “And I Thought Pole Dancing Was Hard” beginning May 6.
The exhibit will feature the work of photographer Mary-Ellen Bertram. It will be on display through June 13, and an opening reception is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. May 17.

Mercer Health and Community Sports and Therapy Center are offering a four-part educational series for students athletes, parents, coaches and trainers beginning June 5.
It will cover injury prevention, pre- and post-game nutrition, Maximizing performance, and supplements and hydration. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays in June at Mercer County Community Hospital, with junior high athletes and younger at 6 p.m. and high school athletes and holder at 7:15 p.m.

Indiana Wesleyan University will host its Wildcat Summer Academy June 23 through 28.
The camps include a variety of options, including new offerings in science and songwriting this year. Camp topics include art, business innovation and entrepreneurship, leadership and life calling, nursing, science, music, theatre and writing.
