BERNE — The Stars were able to rally for a win in the opener.
They weren’t able to find the spark again in game two.
South Adams High School’s junior varsity softball team split a doubleheader on Saturday with the Parkway Panthers.
A four-run seventh inning gave South Adams a 13-12, walk-off win in game one, and the Panthers took game two 17-8 for the split.
The Starfires (6-4) had a 9-6 lead after the second inning in game one. Parkway trimmed the deficit to 9-7 in the third inning and scored four runs in the fourth for an 11-9 advantage. It was 12-9 in favor of the Panthers, but South Adams rallied for the victory.
Parkway turned a 6-4 lead after the second inning in game two into a 14-8 advantage with two innings to play.
Vivian O’Dell doubled and hit three singles to go with her two RBIs and five runs. Carlie Sealscott homered, singled twice, knocked in three runs and scored five times.
Mallory Hirschy, Megan Miller, Taylor Braun, Lilly Patterson and Jayla Conner all doubled.
Indians win
CONVOY, Ohio — Four late runs gave Fort Recovery’s junior varsity baseball team the cushion it needed in a 9-4 win over the host Crestview Knights on Saturday.
The Indians (4-7) had a 5-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fifth inning but the Knights trimmed the margin to just one after their home half of the frame.
Fort Recovery created separation with two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings all the while keeping Crestview off the scoreboard for the victory.
Korbin Dues doubled twice, singled and stole two bases for the Indians, who also got a double from Kendrick Wendel and Derek Locthefeld. Wendel chipped in two singles and led the squad with four RBIs.
Riley Will earned the win pitching. He didn’t allow a hit, struck out three and walked three in two innings.
