Fort Recovery High School’s boys golf team dipped to 1-3 on the year with a 187-193 loss to the Houston Wildcats on Monday at Portland Golf Club.
Grant Knapke and Carson Rammel had Fort Recovery’s best score as they tied for the team lead at 44. Derek Lochtefeld had the No. 3 score with his 50, and Seth Lochtefeld completed the team total with a 55.
Zander Kunkler and Russel Gehle both shot 58, but they did not factor into the team total.
In junior varsity action, Cole Muhlenkamp led the Indians with 56, and AJ Romer shot 61. Isaac LeFevre was two strokes behind Romer.
Patriots second
FORT WAYNE — Jay County’s girls golf team finished second Monday in a meet against three Allen County Athletic Conference opponents at McMillen Park Golf Course.
Heritage won with 175, and Jay County, which was two players short because of illness, had a 198 in its first nine-hole match this season.
South Adams (213) was third and Woodlan (223) placed fourth.
Raquel Wehrly led the Patriots with a 46, and Tea Nichols was two strokes behind. Eden Basford and Erika Heitkamp had matching scores of 52 to round out the Patriots’ team total.
