Possession
A Portland woman was ordered to pay restitution as part of her sentence for a drug possession charge.
Amanda L. Shelton, 34, 695 S. Western Ave., pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to two years in Jay County Jail with one year suspended, to be served on formal probation, and was given credit for time served from March 26. Shelton was ordered to pay $200 in restitution to the Dunkirk Police Department. She was also assessed $185 in court costs and was ordered to pay a substance abuse program fee of $400 and a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of dealing a lookalike substance, a Level 5 felony, was dismissed.
Dealing
A Dunkirk man pleaded guilty to a dealing charge.
Cameron W. Besser, 29, 209 S. Second St., pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to dealing methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony. If his plea agreement is accepted, an additional charge of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, will be dismissed. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 26.
Probation violation
A Portland woman was sentenced in Jay Circuit Court to additional prison time for violating her probation.
Halley N. Clark, 24, 416 E. High St., was found in violation of her probation on the original charges of two counts of dealing narcotic drugs, Class B felonies. She was ordered to serve an additional 18 months of the sentence imposed on March 7, 2016. Her probation will be terminated unsuccessfully upon her release from the Indiana Department of Correction.
Dealing
A Portland woman pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to dealing cocaine, a Level 3 felony.
Melissa A. Carter, 31, 997 S. Boundary Pike, Apartment 33, will be sentenced Sept. 6. If her plea agreement is accepted, charges of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, will be dismissed.
Forfeited license
A Winchester woman pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life, a Level 5 felony.
Lisa R. Graft, 39, 129 E. North St., was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction for three years and was given credit for one day served. She was assessed court costs of $185.50.
Probation violation
A man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court for violating his probation.
Sean P. Taflinger, 45, whose last known address was in Muncie, was found in violation of his probation on the original charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He was ordered to serve an additional 162 days of the sentence imposed on March 12, 2018, and was given 162 days credit for 81 days served. His probation was terminated unsuccessfully.
Syringe possession
A Redkey man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to a drug paraphernalia charge.
Jason C. Miller, 45, 900 W. High St., pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 80 days suspended and was given six days credit for three days served. The remaining time will be served on electronically monitored home detention. Miller was assessed court costs of $185 and placed on formal probation for 285 days.
