ABBA and acting will come together on stage.
Tickets for Jay County Civic Theatre’s production of the musical “Mamma Mia!” are on sale.
Performances of the show, which features the music of Swedish pop group ABBA, are scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 26, 27 and 28, and 2 p.m. Sept. 29, at Arts Place in Portland. The show is directed by Bev Wolford of Bryant, with Ric VanSkyock of Winchester as choreographer and Jan Rittenhouse of Portland as musical director.
Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. (Prices will go up by $2 each after Sept. 25.) They are available online at bit.ly/JCCTMammaMia, at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. or by calling (260) 726-4809.

Cornerstone Center for the Arts’ new Muncie Altrusa Foundation Beulah Frogge Digital Arts Studio will have its grand opening Saturday with a stop-motion workshop led by Disney artist and animator Brad Condie.
There will be a session from 1 to 3 p.m. for 8- to 11-year-olds and from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for 12- to 15-year-olds. All attendees will participate in creating a short film
The workshops are free, but pre-registration is required by emailing [email protected] or calling (765) 281-9503.
Book sale set
Friends of the Jay County Public Library will hold its annual book sale Aug. 22 through 24.
In addition to books, there will also be games, music, puzzles, movies and other items for sale.
The event will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23, and 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 24. There will be a preview sale for members of the Friends group from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Apply for Lilly
The Portland Foundation is now accepting applications for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
The Lilly scholarship is open to high school seniors. It provides tuition to any Indiana college in addition to a yearly stipend for books and equipment.
Applications are available at portlandfoundation.org. The deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 3.
