FORT RECOVERY — Paige Fortkamp led the team in kills. On defense, she tied for the most blocks.
She was lethal at the service line, too.
Fortkamp posted team highs in three categories Tuesday, helping the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team sweep the St. Marys Memorial Roughriders in the season opener, 25-18, 25-18, 25-23.
Fortkamp, a junior, had 10 kills, shared the team lead of three blocks with Olivia Patch and also contributed four aces.
Paige Jutte was second with seven kills, and Marissa Gaerke tallied six kills and two blocks. Patch chipped in two kills.
Kierra Wendel led the Indians (1-0) with 14 digs, and Hope Wendel tallied 18 assists.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity squad lost, 25-9, 26-28, 25-20. Lilie Leuthold had eight kills, Emma Kahlig finished with seven kills and Aubrey Knapke tallied 13 digs.
The Indian freshman squad won 25-23, 25-19. Audra Bubp finished with six kills, Allysen Fullenkamp notched seven assists and four aces while Amy Stammen collected two kills.
Tribe boys second
SIDNEY, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s boys golf team finished second Tuesday in a three-team match with host Lehman Catholic and Botkins at Shelby Oaks Golf Club.
Botkins shot 171 for first, and Fort Recovery (2-7) had a season-low 184 for second. Lehman Catholic (190) was third.
Carson Rammel led the Indians with his round of 43, edging teammate Grant Knapke by one stroke. Derek Lochtefeld (47) and Cole Muhlenkamp (50) completed the team total.
Zander Kunkler also competed and shot 53, but it did not factor into the overall score.
Indian girls win
Jalyn Bruns earned match medalist honors Monday, leading the Fort Recovery girls golf team past the Minster Wildcats 210-228 at Portland Golf Club.
Bruns ended her round with a score of 45, and Shelby Stammen was second on the team with a 50. Kendra Dues and Macy Brunswick shot 56 and 59, respectively, for the Indians in the Midwest Athletic Conference victory.
Paige Bihn (60) and Alli Vaughn (61) also competed.
