An opportunity to learn about marketing for small businesses is scheduled for Thursday.
Peggy Cenova, regional director of East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, will present “Marketing Your Small Business” at 6:30 p.m. as part of John Jay Center for Learning’s fall speaker series.
She will discuss identifying target audiences, developing marketing strategies, using branding and creating an annual plan. The small business development center als provides training and technical assistance to small business owners.
Other upcoming events in the speaker series will featured the Tr-State Gas Engine and Tractor Show on Sept. 12 and The Remnant Trust on Sept. 19. Both events are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Holding camp
Camp Hope, a day camp for grieving children and their families, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at C&C Bible Fellowship in Berne.
The camp utilizes a variety of activities to teach skills for coping with grief. For more information, call (900) 355-2817. The deadline to register is Sept. 14.
Opening set
Cornerstone Center for the Arts in Muncie will host an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 5 for the exhibit “A Family Affair,” which features art by Linda, Jerry and Eloise McKean.
The McKeans will share art that includes drawing, painting, ceramics and mixed media. For more information, visit cornerstonearts.org.

The Portland Foundation is now accepting applications for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
The Lilly scholarship is open to high school seniors. It provides tuition to any Indiana college in addition to a yearly stipend for books and equipment.
Applications are available at portlandfoundation.org. The deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 3.
