Driver couldn’t keep up with the Chiefs’ pace.
East Jay Middle School’s eighth grade girls basketball team dominated its game against the visiting Hawks of Winchester for a 43-14 victory Monday. The seventh graders also won, 22-17.
A pair of players reached double figures for the eighth grade team (2-1) as Molly Muhlenkamp and Sophie Saxman totaled 10 points apiece. Breanna Dirksen followed with eight points.
Natalie Carreno powered the victory for the seventh grade team (2-1) with 12 points. Layliana Eldeeb was next with four points.
WJ 8th rolls
DUNKIRK — West Jay Middle School’s boys basketball team cruised to 2-0 Monday with a 58-24 blowout of visiting Woodlan. The seventh grade squad fell 42-27.
Liam Garringer’s 18 points powered the eighth grade Eagles, who are now 2-0. Parker Nichols added 14 points and Jackson Edwards scored eight.
Keegan Wasson and Ben Crouch finished with 10 points apiece as the WJMS seventh graders slipped to 1-1. Eli Goodspeed was next with four points.

DRIVER — The East Jay Middle School boys basketball teams both lost Monday to the (Winchester) Driver Hawks. The eighth grade team fell 51-35 while the seventh graders suffered a 34-28 defeat.
Abraham Dirksen’s 10 points were a team high for the eighth grade Chiefs. Wesley Bihn added nine points.
Levi Muhlenkamp matched Dirksen with his 10 points for the seventh graders. Cayden Buckland followed with eight points.
