The Eagles were no match for Fort Recovery.

Neither were the Tigers.

Fort Recovery High School’s girls swim team won both battles in a double dual Monday, topping the host Delta Eagles 74-24 and the Hagerstown Tigers 71-31.

The Indian boys lost 86-11 to Delta and 50-29 to Hagerstown.

Paige Fortkamp and Ava Bubp each won a pair of individual events for the Tribe girls.

Fortkamp took the sprints, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 26.79 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1 minute, 0.77 seconds. Bubp was the long-distance leader with winning times of 2:11.91 in the 200 freestyle and 6:04.4 in the 500 freestyle.

Kyra Clark Bubp took the top spot in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.22, Autumn Burk won the 100 butterfly in 1:10.1 and Audra Bubp was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.87.

The Indians also swept the relays, with Rachel Acheson, Clark and the Bubp sisters winning the 400 freestyle in 4:20.22. Shelby Stammen, Ava Bubp, Burk and Fortkamp posted a time of 1:52.04 to take the 200 freestyle, and Audra Bubp, Burk, Clark and Fortkamp finished in 2:02.07 to win the medley.

Josh Gonzalez had the top finish for the boys team with a time of 25.97 in the 50 freestyle for second place.

Fort Recovery also competed in diving for the first time, with Isaac LeFevre and Autumn Burk each scoring points.

The Indians will be in action again Thursday in a three-team meet at Van Wert.



Chiefs split

East Jay Middle School’s boys basketball teams split games Monday with visiting Union City, with the eighth graders rallying for a 32-28 victory. The seventh grade squad lost 37-24.

Zac McAbee finished with 12 points to lead the eighth graders (2-2) to their victory. Sam Myers added seven points, and Justin DeHoff and Wesley Bihn each had five.

The seventh grade team got 11 points from Leighton Overton as it dropped to 1-3. Levi Muhlenkamp scored seven points.
