Possession
A Montpelier man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
Chad A. Weaver, 522 W. Plate Glass St., was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail to be served consecutively to a felony case in Blackford County. He was given 24 days credit for 12 days served and will serve the remaining time on electronically monitored home detention.
He was assessed court costs of $185 and ordered to pay an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200. A charge of visiting a common nuisance, a Class B misdemeanor, was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Trials scheduled
Three trials were scheduled recently at Jay County Courthouse.
Drew P. Mitchell, 21, 404 E. Babb Road, Eaton, will have a two-day jury trial on March 16 in Jay Circuit Court for a charge of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony.
Jennifer L. Cook, 43, 3395 S. 1150 West, Dunkirk, is charged in Jay Superior Court with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Class C misdemeanors. One-day jury trial scheduled for April 9.
In a separate case, Cook has a one-day jury trial scheduled for April 23 for the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of paraphernalia, Class C misdemeanors, and driving while suspended, a Class A infraction.
Probation violation
A man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court for violating his probation.
Charles H. Harvey Jr., 31, whose last known address was in Albany, was found in violation of his probation on the original charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Level 6 felony. He was ordered to serve an additional 180 days of the sentence imposed on Aug. 4, 2016, and was given 180 days credit for 90 days served. His probation was terminated unsuccessfully.

Kenneth R. Piercy Jr., 45, whose last known address was in Portland, pleaded guilty to driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 180 days in Jay County Jail and was given two days credit for one day served. He was also given credit for time served from Sept. 13 and assessed court costs of $185.50.
In a separate case, Piercy pleaded guilty to theft, a Level 6 felony.
He was sentenced to 180 days in Jay County Jail, to be served consecutively to the previous charge beginning Dec. 11, and assessed court costs of $185.
Piercy also pleaded guilty to battery resulting in bodily injury, a Level 6 felony.
He was sentenced to 180 days in Jay County Jail beginning March 10, consecutive to the previous charges.
He was also assessed courts of $185.
